Your accounting books are locked (encrypted) on your own computer with a passphrase only you know, before anything is sent to us. We cannot read your books. We hold only an encrypted file and a small amount of information needed to sell and support the product.

What we cannot see

Your accounting data, ledgers, balances, customers, suppliers, stock, vouchers, is encrypted on your computer with your passphrase and uploaded as a single encrypted file. The passphrase is never transmitted to us and never stored on our servers. We are technically unable to read the contents of that file. See Security for how this works.

What we do collect

• Licence and billing information, your name, business name, phone number and email, and a record of your purchase, so we can issue and support your licence. [Confirm exactly what you collect and who processes payment.]
• Licence check-ins, to confirm a licence is valid, the program sends a one-way fingerprint of the computer (a hashed machine identifier) and the licence key. This contains no accounting data.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your data.
• We do not read, analyse or share the contents of your books, we cannot.
• We never ask for your passphrase, Tally password or licence key over a call or chat.

Where data is stored

How long we keep it
